One step, one dream.
It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are to have four functioning limbs. An estimated 100,000 amputees are currently living in Vietnam, with an additional 2,000 men, women and children losing limbs each year due to the 2.2 million unexploded ordinance and landmines left over from the Vietnam War. Mercer on Mission Vietnam is a medical mission that aims to bring a sense of normalcy back to the amputees of Vietnam, offering prosthetic, orthopedic, and dental services to those in need.
“Programs like this create an environment to promote innovation and a sense of responsibility to help those in need. ”
— President Jimmy Carter, Mercer University Trustee | 2014
Less limbs doesn’t mean less human.
Mercer on Mission Vietnam’s goal is to restore the quality of life to the amputees of Vietnam, many of whom haven’t walked in over 10 years.
