Mercer on Mission Vietnam

Changing the world, one limb at a time.

One step, one dream.

It’s easy to forget how fortunate we are to have four functioning limbs. An estimated 100,000 amputees are currently living in Vietnam, with an additional 2,000 men, women and children losing limbs each year due to the 2.2 million unexploded ordinance and landmines left over from the Vietnam War. Mercer on Mission Vietnam is a medical mission that aims to bring a sense of normalcy back to the amputees of Vietnam, offering prosthetic, orthopedic, and dental services to those in need.

Prosthetic Clinic

Seeing hundreds of patients each day, we fit Above Knee (AK), Below Knee (BK), and hand and arm prosthetics in our clinics primarily located in Kiên Giang, Sóc Trăng, and Bến Tre, Vietnam.

Orthopedic and Medical Clinic

Aside from prosthetics, the Mercer on Mission Vietnam team also provides orthopedic and medical care to its patients. Ranging from physical therapy to providing medications not accessible otherwise, we are able to treat and fit our patients’ needs.

Dental Clinic

Mercer on Mission Vietnam has recently begun to provide dental implants to our patients as well, restoring not only mobility through our prosthetic and orthopedic and medical clinics but also self-confidence.

“Programs like this create an environment to promote innovation and a sense of responsibility to help those in need. ”

— President Jimmy Carter, Mercer University Trustee | 2014

Less limbs doesn’t mean less human.

Mercer on Mission Vietnam’s goal is to restore the quality of life to the amputees of Vietnam, many of whom haven’t walked in over 10 years.
